We all know those shitty days where just every possible thing goes wrong, leaving us totally devastated and downcast. For the past twelve years, Kerry Skarbakka has been using the physicality of his own body to represent this state of mind and anxieties associated with simply being human.
+ Read MoreIn the series of performance-based photographs, entitled ‘The Struggle to Right Oneself’ he has directed and created a body of images investigating the physical and psychological space of ‘loss of control’. Using the metaphor of falling as context for this work, issues of uncertainty linked to war, human rights, politics and the state of the economy. In times of such instability, the responsibility of maintaining balance ultimately falls upon the resolve of each individual.
