An Indoor-Outdoor Retreat In Chile By Ricardo Torrejón Architects

Scroll

Santiago-based architecture practice Ricardo Torrejon collaborated with architect Arturo Chadwick to create a retreat for a special indoor-outdoor experience located in the lush landscape of mid-western Chile.

“The luxury in this house was given not necessarily by using expensive features, but by the use of a reduced palette of natural materials.” To incorporate the two-level ‘CML House‘ into the surrounding environment, the architects chose pine wood for the building’s structure as well as concrete flooring. Additionally, there’s a small garden attached to the house, which can be entered through floor-to-ceiling sliding windows.

In a statement about the project, the studio says: “The luxury or category in this house was given not necessarily by using expensive features, but by the use of a reduced palette of natural materials rather than industrial products. We also invested in quality space: overall interior height, integrated rooms, and the contrast between immediate surrounding and distant views towards the geographical context.”
