Mesmerizing Kaleidoscope Photographs By Laura Zalenga

Scroll

For her latest series, German photographer Laura Zalenga took out her old kaleidoscope to create mesmerizing images in colorful patterns.

“It’s great fun to see how with every millimeter to the kaleidoscope is moved, the final image will change.” We’ve featured Zalenga’s work before and this time, she put her previous photographs behind the distorting lense of a kaleidoscope. The resulting images feature portraits as well as self-portraits – her main area of focus – creating a dreamy atmosphere.

Speaking of the idea behind the project, Zalenga says: “I think what I like about this series is that you can only see the pattern at the beginning and only at a second glance allows you in the world immersing the stems of the pattern. Also, it’s great fun to see how with every millimeter to the kaleidoscope is moved, the final image will change. So it is almost impossible to create the same picture twice.”
