Winding their way through the scenic landscape along the Paiva river in Portugal, the ‘Paiva Walkways‘ were recently completed for explorations of the surroundings at close range.
In a collaboration between the Arouca Municipality and engineer company Trimetrica, the 8km-long route was built to give visitors the chance to experience local natural beauty, including cliffs and waterfalls, as well as offering panoramic views of the valley. Additionally, the wooden pathway features a bridge crossing the river.
Speaking of the concept behind the walking path, the project initiators say: “More than a simple walk in contact with the nature, this is an unique experience deeply characterized by a dramatic landscape and an infrastructure that interferes as little as possible with the landscape. ”
