Lisbon-based architecture practice blaanc designed a one-storey, three-volume home nestled into a vineyard in Montijo, Portugal.
sustainability, the architects finished the volume housing the home’s common areas with a traditional Portuguese building technique known as ‘Rammed Earth’. In addition to creating a rough, natural texture on the building’s exterior, the technique ensures optimal acoustic and thermal conditions inside. Set amidst vines on a large agricultural estate next to a cork oak forest, the ‘Vineyard House’ “tries to interfere as little as possible with the landscape by aligning alongside the natural elements that compose the peaceful backdrop,” explains blaanc.
