Luxury Streetwear From Toronto

Shot by Gabriela Hansen, a Swiss photographer living in Canada, the lookbook for broke&living‘s new collection reflects the brand’s minimal designs, in a nod to the contrasting concept behind their name.

“A lot of the photos are improvised in terms of the location and color palette.”Founded in Toronto by Nicole Simmons, Charlene Akuamoah and Meg Prosper, broke&living first started as a platform for the trio to document and share their creative projects. It then grew to a streetwear unisex brand, through which the trio manifested their personality, translating it into details and eventually developing aesthetically aware designs. The editorial shot by Hansen is actually the brand’s first actual lookbook launch. Although it gives the impression of a well thought out concept, in fact the refined frames emerged from a spontaneous process. Hansen says: “Most of the photos weren’t fully planned prior to shooting, a lot of it is improvised in terms of the location and color palette.”
