Studio Aidlin Darling Design worked with architectural lighting designers Auerbach Glasow French to create a meditation center located on the campus of Stanford University in California.
Inspired by and in honor of artist Nathan Oliveira’s ‘Windhover‘ series, the ‘Windhover Contemplative Center’ combines a spiritual sanctuary and garden with an art gallery. The structure’s main features include an entry garden, a contemplative grove and a meditation labyrinth. Speaking about the concept behind the project, the university says: “Benches and cushions are strategically placed to allow visitors to quietly view both the paintings and the adjacent landscape simultaneously.”“Benches and cushions are strategically placed to allow visitors to quietly view both the paintings and the adjacent landscape simultaneously.”
