Furniture From Flat Pack To 3D And Back

Eindhoven-based designer Jongha Choi created a series of stools and benches that transform from 2D wall hangings to 3D chairs in an instant.

“Even the advent of 3D printing skills shake our fundamental notion of the image. Unlike the past, we are not only seeing the image as a means of reproducing objects, but also giving essential identity to the image itself,” explains the designer. “In other words, though the image still shows its visual effect on a flat plane, it is not just an expression of representation, but a making real an experience.” To delve deeper into Choi’s theory, take a look at his thesis, available to read in full here.
