“The pictures represent something where we can all look back at when we are older.”Entitled ‘Days Gone By’, the saturated, sun-filled series addresses the thrills and fears of transitioning from youth into adulthood, set amongst picturesque summer landscapes. The intimate images portray her friends in various states of undress, coming to terms both with their own sexuality and their relationships to others. “‘Days Gone By’ is like a visual diary about my surroundings where I love to photograph the people I know, showing them how they look in the present,” explains Waeyaert. “The pictures represent something where we can all look back at when we are older, building up memories for ourselves. It’s about the every day life, a game between fiction and reality.”
