Rethink Ping Pong Tables

Named Monoliths, the public art project was designed for the Monash University Museum of Art in Melbourne and is meant to form a new interactive gathering place for the university. The lighter-coloured table is made of concrete with copper inlaid details and bead-blasted stainless steel nets, composed of a pyramid shaped base and a flat playing surface. Green pebble aggregate is processed on the surface to complement the copper detailing on the table. The darker table was tinted black by using iron oxide pigments. Its base looks like a collocation of upside down stairs, featuring a small cut-out section intended for storing beers.
