Bodybuilders By Daniel Gebhart De Koekkoek

On the emergency exit stairways of a shopping mall, the artist photographed the proud community of Bodybuilders, getting ready for their performance. After being refused at the entrance of the backstage area, Koekkoek found his own way to get there and gives an uncommon insight into the culture of bodybuilding aesthetics. De Koekkoek was interested in seeing the hidden process that turned ordinary, though very muscular men and women into surprisingly tanned and pumped demigods. The artist can be seen as a silent observer with an instinct for situational precision, using the camera as his access medium that allows him to absorb the anomaly and specific culture of the society through which he moves.
