Based in Los Angeles, creative studio Meatwreck is a photographic collaboration between artist couple Mitra Saboury and Derek Paul Boyle. The artist duo creates preposterous images every day, generating a disturbing yet intriguing visual language for a large social network.
Boyle was working in LA after receiving his MFA at RISD. Saboury soon joined him, having received her MFA at Goldsmiths in London, and together they formed Meatwreck. While the two artists exhibited their individual work, including photos, sculptures, installations and performances, Meatwreck has taken the internet by storm. Obsessed with revealing the rawness, Meatwreck is famous for their extraordinary Instagram feed, using everyday items and their relationship as inspiration. The duo creates visual puns and paradoxes that are hilarious and gross, but always spontaneous and brilliantly inventive. Their feed shows frequent motifs including ketchup, bread and cold cuts, never predictable what will come next. Meatwreck encourages their followers to grapple with an art form that is revolting but fascinating in the same way. The duo just launched their new online shop.
