Eindhoven design collective Studio Mieke Meijer has created a minimal collection of wooden structures that are both abstract and practical — functioning as sculptural lamps and room dividers, depending on how you decide to utilize them.
Drawing inspiration from classical architecture, ‘Space Frames’ is a collection of light sculptures that bend in arcs and columns. Constructed from lightweight plywood, strung with polyester and lit by LED, these pieces are an exploration of the duality of lightness — in weight, and in vision. ‘Space Frames’, though sculptural in form, offer a practical purpose: “By scaling down components and changing materiality,” the Studio explains, “objects arise that can be used in a domestic or commercial environment but still keep their architectural and autonomous character.”
