Transforming A 1960s Office Block Into A Minimalist Home

Transformed by the minimal touch of Hans Verstuyft, the upper floors of this Antwerp office block now house a penthouse, commercial office space, rooftop pool, and courtyard garden. Monochromatic but bold — color makes its way into this minimalist interior via selected furniture pieces and the verdant shadows cast by the large tree that the space was built around. Situated atop the office building below, Hans designed the penthouse with a north and south terrace on the upper floor — granting unparalleled vistas of the city surrounds. Atop of the building itself is a 3.5-by-3.5-meter pool. “While you’re swimming, you have a view over the whole city, swimming in the direction of the cathedral,” Verstuyft said of the addition. “Next to it is a small solarium. Le Corbusier would have been jealous.”
