Designed by Guimarães-based firm Rui Vieira Oliveira, the dynamic form and white façade of the Brunhais House in the north of Portugal stands in contrast to both sky and mountain surroundings.
The home is composed of two overlapping geometric volumes that are distinguished by color, and which separate private and social areas. The angular nature of the building’s exterior hints at the detailing inside: the entrance is formed as a result of a collision of sculptural volumes. Similarly, the unconventional layout of the home creates space for a courtyard that not only separates the two wings of the building, but offers a view of the sunset and floods the home with natural light.
