In the mountains of Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, Quebec, a triad of white domed cabins stand overlooking the Saint Lawrence River. These are the first accommodation offering from ‘Dômes Charlevoix’, a luxury eco-resort designed by Bourgeois Lechasseur Architects.

These geodesic buildings were designed to be low impact: prefabricated off-site, they have been built above ground and around trees. Their structures are formed via a network of triangles, creating a strong framework whilst using less material and thus remaining lightweight. The cabins PVC skins thoroughly insulated, and wood burners and heated flooring enable them to withstand the sub-zero temperatures of southern Canada. Capable of sleeping four, the ground floor of each cabin comprises of a bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen, whilst a ladder leads to a loft space and second double bedroom. Outside, a deck fit with hot tub offers spectacular views through the trees and to the river beyond.
