Like many artists before him, Swiss painter Conrad Jon Godly seeks to address the relationship between nature and the sublime in his impasto landscapes.
‘To See Is Not To Speak’, Godly’s most recent solo exhibition, features a selection of paintings of the alps—their hostility and majesty presented as a married pair. To convey an atmosphere of movement, Godly applies paint thickly to his canvas, his deliberate strokes forming the alpine mountain ranges and the wild weather upon them.
