“I document the missed moments”, explains New York City-based photographer Kai Wai Wong. “Multiple subjects and perspectives come together, correlated by coincidence. As ephemeral moments come and go, everything flows”.
This preoccupation with life’s fleeting nature forms the basis of Wong’s visual aesthetic. Utilizing tone, color, and line as graphic elements, the photographer’s work finds beauty in the banal. His ongoing series ‘Boredom’ experiments with mundane moments and objects as subject matter: rotting fruits, decomposing flowers, stained tissues, and crumpled clothes; proving that art can be found in instances normally overlooked. The series ‘Faint Sorrow’ brings disparate images of nature, animals, and objects, together through emotive composition and an undertone of melancholia.
