Snøhetta Designs An Extraordinary Underwater Restaurant In Norway

‘Under’ is located along the rocky Norwegian coastline in Lindesnes, a town known for its tumultuous weather conditions, and home to several fjords with icy waters. The building itself is half-submerged underwater, resting on a seabed five meters below the ocean like a sunken container. Interior aesthetics and bespoke furniture reference color palettes inspired by rough ocean waters, seaweed, and the color of a sun setting over the sea, creating a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere inside the restaurant. The culinary focus is a “new landmark for Southern Norway”, offering sustainable and locally sourced produce for an immersive gastronomic experience.
