The Diverse Portfolio Of Photographer Eric Chakeen Defies Genre

For Chakeen, the camera is not only a practical tool but also a permanent addition to his daily life. Blending commercial projects with everyday encounters, his images cover an ever-increasing variety of subjects. His portfolio shifts seamlessly from fashion and editorial to landscape and intimate portraiture, yet all of his images retain a strong visual cohesion. Within his carefully composed images, Chakeen applies his unique visual language to all of his subjects equally, mastering the mutual exchange between subject and photographer, whether it be in his personal or commercial work. Since his studies at New York University, he has gone on to photograph for publications and clients including Vogue, i-D, Nike, and Supreme. In his personal series ‘And Away They Go’, Chakeen documents his travels with his partner in South-East Asia, simply letting his instinct guide the images.
