Discerning diners can enjoy one of the famed burgers from popular Copenhagen franchise ‘Gasoline Grill’ at their new outpost in Værnedamsvej, Copenhagen; the minimal venue was recently designed by renowned firm Studio David Thulstrup.
“‘Gasoline Grill’ counters conventions with its refined, elegant expression,” explains a statement from the design studio. “The client wanted an unusual look for a burger place, one that was polished and elegant but unpretentious and welcoming.” The space is characterized by its industrial aesthetic with an open kitchen and counter in the center of the room. To achieve a sense of minimalism without the venue feeling too stark, Studio David Thulstrup implemented galvanized steel and LED lights to hover over the kitchen, terrazzo floors and benches, and custom-designed oakwood bar stools—their simple geometry and sculptural profile are a unique addition to a restaurant that is in its essence, fast food. Yet, away from preservatives and highly-processed additives, meat for the patties is ground in-house in the glass-walled meat grinding room; a process that promises the freshness of the product. All burger ingredients and fries are organic and can be enjoyed with a homemade lemonade or milkshake. ‘Gasoline Grill’ carefully plans out their production every day to ensure zero-waste; as a result their sought-after burgers sell out each day.
