The minimalist ‘Reykjavik Daybed’ designed by creative duo Included Middle for Danish company Skagerak is a stunning contemporary furniture piece enriching living rooms, guest rooms, and hallways, with its muted colors and timeless design.

The daybed “takes inspiration from the significant colors and distinctive architecture of Iceland,” explains the studio to IGNANT—with elements such as corrugated steel roofs and characteristic wooden structures found in the cityscapes of the Icelandic capital. Thanks to its simple design, the daybed fits into any home environment, exuding a subtle elegance while complementing conventional upholstered furniture. The design is characterized by a slim frame made from high quality German Douglas Pine from wood manufacturer Dinesen, and features colored reversible woolen upholstery from textile manufacturer Kvadrat. Adding warmth to the design, its unique color scheme can be adjusted to suit one’s needs, by flipping over the mattress and cushion, thereby revealing another color story. A 2020 ‘Re-wool’ version is also available, which presents a warmer and darker color palette with textiles made of left-over fabrics.
