Capturing A Flower’s Fragility

“Most of my installations are reflecting what’s happening in nature, by looking at plant patterns or observing the way something grows. Then I imagine these themes in real life and times that by a thousand so that it becomes fantasy,” says Law. The British artist creates large site-specific installations using thousands of flowers and her signature copper wire, inviting the visitors to witness the change of the works’ form and shape over the course of the display. Working on each installation, Law doesn’t only considers the characteristics of the space, but also keeps in mind the local culture and history of the site’s location. Apart from that, she also creates small-scale sculptures, often encased in Victorian-style vitrines that serve to preserve the content – flowers, foliage or even insects – in a moment of time.
