On the Chilean coast, 3370 Studio has designed a three part guest house overlooking the South Pacific Ocean.

Situated north of the capital Santiago, Los Vilos is a harbor town that has become increasingly popular as a holiday destination in recent years. Here, Santiago-based architecture firm 3370 Studio was tasked with designing a guest house with a form that could be opened and closed off depending on the desire of the residents. ‘Guest House’ consists of three rectangular volumes that are connected by a large ventilated roof that stands supported by beams. The social area of the home sits at the center and is bookended by bedroom blocks that open to views of the landscape at each side of the building. The three glazed volumes share the same proportions, but the central block has been rotated slightly in its position, allowing for a partially enclosed outdoor area in which native vegetation is invited to creep towards the home. The separate nature of the three volumes means that they can be used as a singularly for short stays with fewer people, or together as a whole when many guests come to stay for long periods of time.
