Lex Pott’s Eye-Catching Designs Are A Study In Contrasting Shapes And Textures

Upon entering the world of design, Pott first set out to find a niche that would define his identity as an independent designer. He began experimenting with wood, metal, and stone in organic and geometric shapes, and has since created a unique aesthetic that has enabled an ongoing collaboration with notable Danish design house Hay, as well as work for Studio Thomas Vailly, and Wallpaper* Handmade.

Pott’s collection ‘Fragments’ is a series of arresting furniture pieces for design platform The Future Perfect. Three of the pieces are tables that see a large rough-looking stone wedged into a polished tabletop—demonstrating a contrast and striking a dialogue between nature and geometry were some of the aims of the design. According to The Future Perfect, Pott got the idea “from watching the process of turning raw blocks of stone into slabs to be used as a surface. By utilizing the quality of the end slab, both an irregular surface and a polished plane appear.” The tables are a wonder of asymmetry, and yet at the same time are extremely chic. In addition to this is ‘Twist’, a series of candles that use the flexibility of wax to create uniquely curving design pieces blending minimalism with personality.
