Along the Gold Coast of Lake Zurich in Staefa, Switzerland, sits ‘House B’; a minimalist single family home designed by Zurich-based architecture firm E2A.

From the outside, the residence is characterized by straight lines of rough-faced, board-formed concrete walls, with a protruding side-window and large floor-to-ceiling fenestrations interrupting the otherwise solid and imposing volume. Behind the enclosing walls, the house is organized around two private outdoor spaces, an entry courtyard and a courtyard garden; shielding the interiors from the eyes of passersby while doubling as lightwells. In between them are a garden apartment and the house’s main entrance. A staircase leads to the floor above, where a spacious terrace overlooks the mountainous landscapes in the distance. The common spaces are located around a centrally positioned kitchen and include a dining room and an atelier-like double-height living room. On the top floor, a studio gallery space overlooks the living room, while the master bedroom works as an independent unit, with a bathroom, dressing room, and office space.
